Clean Water for Sabadell Nicaragua

Project Overview

In October of 2016 I visited the wonderful people of Nicaragua with a mission team and in May 2017 I went back with my husband. I met families and homes in communities where our missions are located and in Matagalpa I witnessed the barriers to clean, clear, and safe drinking water. Families, already poor, have to buy drinking water and water is a luxury in this area of the world’s poorer families; a luxury that’s becoming even more scarce here.

The Pastor of one of the missions collects rain water, as you can see in the pictures, in a holding tank. While he can collect plenty of rain water during their winter (rainy season) the tank festers a heavy bloom of algae.

This morning, like every day, at home in Pennsylvania I open my faucet and see clear clean water. I can’t help but think about the families I visited.

I am planning on another trip to Nicaragua and our first goal is to bring 20 filters to this community of Sabadell:

20 filters @ 50.00 = $1,000

Any contribution amount helps, $5, $10, $20, $50 +

Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, after Haiti. In rural Nicaragua less than half of the population has access to clean drinking water and sanitation. Of Nicaragua's 5.6 million people, about 56% live in the rural areas.
