Guardiãs do Mar & Águas

Project Overview

Guardiãs do Mar & Águas has recently traveled to Salvador - Bahia and the water scarcity affects more than 70% over there. Also affect 40% of the world's population.

A figure that is expected to rise further as a result of climate change and inadequate management of natural resources. It is possible to set out a new path that will lead us towards this goal, through international cooperation, protection and sharing of water treatment technologies to the people.

Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water for all people in the country

Water is at the heart of sustainable development and its three dimensions - environmental, economic and social.

Water resources, as well as the services associated with them, underpin efforts to eradicate poverty, economic growth and environmental sustainability. Access to water matters for all aspects of human dignity: from food and energy security to human and environmental health.

The Ocean Guardians Institute promotes actions to clean the waters and beaches through garbage collect on the different Brazilian beaches.

It promotes an awareness trail about sustainability in surfing and all water sports.

Recently we have included the waves for water project in our mindset that fits with IGDM's social responsibility missions:

  • By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe, affordable and accessible drinking water for all.
  • By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dump and minimizing the release of hazardous chemicals and materials, reducing the proportion of untreated wastewater by half, and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.
  • By 2020, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including oceans, mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes.
  • By 2030, expand international cooperation and capacity-building support for developing countries in water and sanitation related activities and programs, including water collection, desalination, water use efficiency, effluent treatment , recycling and reuse technologies.
